It's hibernation time. Sure, that always happens in winter -- but this year the economic crisis has exacerbated the trend, resulting in some new lifestyle and beauty choices for our readers. We found them fascinating; thought you might, too.
1. Women are swapping some high-end products for mass brands in order to save money. Our "Less vs. Luxe" stories are more popular than ever, and we're seeing spikes in reviews to drugstore brand "technology breakthrough" products.
2. And women's hair color is going lower-maintenance. We see less obvious highlights, more blended than in previous years, which we attribute to a boost in popularity of home hair coloring among our readers. We also see women using root touch-up products to stretch time before salon color appointments.
3. They're growing their hair out, too. Celebrities are still continuing to wear super long extensions, which work well with the popularity of buns right now. Average women on our site say they've taken on an easier-to-maintain hairstyle, many with long layers that require less upkeep.
